Shrub - Sparrowpit's near you isn't it ?. I was called by a chap there a couple of weeks ago, looking for a new lock on his front door. He'd got my details of the Internet (I didn't realise they did battery powered PC's - I don't think mains electric has reached Sparrowpit yet  ). Anyhow, I couldn't do it until the following day, but he never got back to me - I think he expected a lock change, including labour, for the price you'd pay at B&Q !.

To answer the question, a couple of Lockies with shops (1 well established and who farms out the Saturday callout to me, and 1 just started up), and half a dozen mobiles. This doesn't include those who come into the area from surrounding Counties, usually on subbing work.

Sorry - thats immediate area. If you include South Yorkshire and South Derbyshire - It must be in the 20-30's.

Rockford, yes sparrowpit is very close to me, VERY close. Theres only a few houses there and ive done work there not so long ago and done a leaflet drop, perhaps its time to do another.

Until the new phone book comes out im sure im missing quite a lot of work to the out of area ones, they usually phone someone in Manchester who never turns up.

Cheers for the heads up, shame you didnt put him on to me.

Sparrowpit's not too far from me (just over half an hour, and 20ish miles), plus the guy said he'd give me a call if the next day wasn't any good for him - that's why I didn't pass the work on. If I get anything else over that side of the County, and it's an urgent job that I can't get to, then I'll certainly give you a call with the details - no probs.

82 locksmiths adverts in the nottingham area yellow pages, take out the nationals and we are left with 58 locksmiths advertising, with 82 ads you need to offer something different to the rest.

31 ads from last year gone and replace by 33 new ads.

thats 31 shattered dreams, dreamers who believed the hype of 50k plus a year easily earnt, all you need is to know how to drill a lock, 31 people who lost their investment and probably life savings, to be replaced by 33 new hopefulls.
If this isnt depressing statistics then i dont know what is, the sad thing is that those offering easy money, low set up training are all having a bumper year selling a pipe dream and selling out the industry.
