I got myself a Best 7 pin lock, heres the pics of it
http://www.buckeyegoph.com/bestlock.jpg
I know theres 3 keys that can fit this, a personal key, master key, and a key to change the core. what i would like to know, is how would i go about picking this? i searched and couldnt find anything on this lock. does anyone know if theres any security pins? Thanks
also, i finally picked the schlage, it ended up having 5 security pins in it. i cant do it again, so im sure the first time was a fluke

I'm not too experienced with BEST, because they are not available in australia.
I do beleive there are no security pins but the BEST sfic's are a pain to pick.

I would also like to get the 3 keys (its own, master, and core removing key). I'm not anywhere near a lockpicking shop nor will i be for a few weeks so i cant call anywhere, but how much do you think a locksmith would charge (USD) to figure out and make the 3 keys?

Not a cheap thing to have done, may be wrong but manipulation and or decoding is never cheap.

GOPH, Please fill out your profile so we know what area you are in.
Most Locksmiths won't just make you a key as they don't know where the rest of the system is . Most should be able to rekey it for you to a new key/ control key for around $20.00
There are quite a few Locksmiths on here who might rekey that for you.
Just ask.

oh, so even if i bring them that lock, they couldnt or wouldnt make a key? oh well. i guess ill just look up a number in my local town and give them a call and see what they will charge or if they'll do it under the circumstances. the lock is one that i own and the rest of the locks are actually in doors rigt now at my dads work (which is who im doing this for). I could have it re-keyed but then thatwould mean we have to take ALL the locks out (which we cant do since we dont have the key to remove the core which is why were trying to get this keyed) and have all those re-keyed alike. anyways, any help is appreciated. I'm trying to learn how to pick it so if it comes down to taking them all in, i might be able to get the locks out but that would be a lot of work and im a beginner thanks for the help guys!

Why can't you just cut your parents key?

they dont have the key (only the keys for the specific lock itself), thats why we may send the one lock in to get it keyed. my dad would like a master key and a key to switch out locks in case someone gets fired or whatnot. its more of a security issue.

I saw on a site somewhere (i have no clue where, now) but they have this little device that you put the lock on, and press some tool into the bottom of the lock, and it pushes all the pins out into a holder for the pins, that way theyre seperate, and in order. maybe the locksmith could do that, and key it that way, making it an easier process? but i could be wrong or mistaken for something else.

i dont know? i didnt ask. lost them? maybe he didnt get them? i know he doesnt have the best of luck with keys.
If we just got the new key made and the key shape changed, is the 20ish dollars someone mentioned earlier going to be the cost for each lock? or all the locks combined? theres about 10-12 locks or so i believe so ill need 12 different keys made plus the master and core removing key. an estimates fine so i can let him know. sometime next week ill call to see what a locksmith will charge to come in (since we cant get the locks out to bring them in). Thanks for the help guys

also he wasnt issued with any keys, be built the shop (contractor, and this building is his office/workshop for tools and machines) so im thinking he just lost them somewhere. its not that old of a building so another idea is maybe call Best lock company. if you provide them with proof of ownership, do they send replacement keys? that could be even easier yet.
