New book on locks: Info needed on Fichet patent

Postby greyman » 19 Jan 2006 8:22

Help! I've almost finished my book on locks and how they work, due to be published this year. The draft is 490 pages with plenty of good stuff for people who like locks :)

To complete the figure credits I need a patent reference for the drawing of the Fichet 7 lever push-key lock at

http://www.chez.com/montmartre/fichetronde.html

which has got to be from a patent, but which patent is it from? At the bottom of the picture it says "Etude JLM/SER/Paracini Feb 1962". I cannot find this on esp@cenet despite several searches.

I will acknowldge in the book anyone who helps me to identify the source of this drawing or an equivalent lock patent.

NS Fichet

Bonjour Fred

Thank you very much for this reply. It is great to read a bit more about this interesting lock on your web site.

In your description you say "La pompe N.S. a été conçue en 1884 par Messieurs NOEL & SCAILQUIN" (The NS pump was designed in 1884 by Mr...). Can I ask where you obtained this information from? Is there a public reference (eg a patent) or is it from company documentation or from people who work(ed) for Fichet?

I would also like to know if the photo of the lock with two keys is the Triplex? If so, do you know why is it called this?

I would like to use this information in my book and I will reference your site, but first I need to be sure the information is accurate.

Please feel free to send me a personal mail to discuss further.

Cordialement
Greyman

Dermaud, Thanks for this info. I suspected there might be something useful in this Fichet book. I have never been able to obtain a copy of it though. Can you confirm for me if this book is the same as the Fichet 125 year anniversary book? I am interested in buying a copy of this book if one is available.
