Hi there
I got this strange thing that I can't open almost any lock when it is "mounted" in doors. When I have standalone lock with I can pick it withing few minutes and it opens , but when the same lock (simple , with 5 pins) is in my friends doors it's like impossible to open. I am able to insert all the cylinders with my picklock , but the door still not open. I can hear cylinders click and they are on their right place , but still nothing.. or maybe there is just one which didn't click.. I am not sure , but i tried so many times.. what could be the problem ? The wrench is too weak ?
Regards , Thanks for any help

Picking in the field is alot more difficult than picking on your own terms. Remember when you are picking in the field, you cannot hold the lock comfortably, and you need to crouch in a different position. Another possibly is that the lock is dirty. To fix this, you need to flush the lock out and then reapply a non-petrolium based lubericant (NOT wd-40)
Also, since you are new here, I am going to emphasise that it is of the upmost importance that you only pick your own locks, or locks that you have permission to pick from the owner. Check your local laws as well to make sure it is legal to pick without a certification.
Make sure to look around and try out the search button, there is alot of good info to find if you dig deep enough
Good Luck!

The reason most probably may be, that there is a security pin (or pins) inside. The thing about security pins is that when they seem to set in place, in fact they do not. You'll find some useful info on those, if you search deep enough.
Cheers

Oh and another thing , do I always have to insert all the pins to the max until they click ? or is it sometimes that you need to insert them just a little bit ? I read a lot of ebooks and stuff but I'm still a little bit confused. Of course I am trying all this on my own locks and this is only for my hobby!

i have the same thing as well...
Mounted locks are harder to pick but i think it is because your just in a more uncomfortable position and it messes with your "in your zone" mode.
try using super light torque. I usually apply torque and lighten it little by little until im almost just resting my finger on the wrench. I sometimes raise pins that i dont want to raise so watch out for that too because that can cause you to have to start over which is annoying. Also make sure your not messing with security pins if ur a beginner.
Use the search and see if you can find things on the binding pin theory and which order to pick them. This will help u visualize and thus increase ur skills

Mount the lock that you can pick easily, at the same height and depth of a door lock. If you can still pick that lock easily, you can understand that your problem is with the lock on your friend's door. Otherwise, There are two reasons I can imagine:
- You are feeling the lock with the hand you are gripping it for feedback (That was my problem a few weeks ago). Do not grip the lock you are picking, forget the sounds(which are difficult the hear or feel when the lock is mounted). Concentrate on your pick-hand and the torque.
- You are applying a different magnitute of torque when you are in picking on the door. Try to apply the same torque.
By the way, it is still very difficult for me to bump the locks that are on a door. But the direction and magnitute of the force is far more important in bumping.

It's also a simple matter of time.
You can take all the time you want sitting in a convinient chair, but in front of a door my knees start hurting quickly, I'm getting impatient and after 10..15 minutes I need a break (which includes starting all over).
Quite clear that you will open more locks sitting in a chair. No time problem here.

I definitely would agree with Olcaytug. I found a was receiving my inputs from my other hand and one of the hardest things to over come is the sound of when you think the tumbler has reached the correct height. It's almost an artistic thing when you exclude the sound but I've had some go within 30 seconds when I ignore sounds.
