NewB Q - Cheap Lock?

Postby joshuab » 21 Feb 2006 0:46

Hi! I just got a pick kit recommended by this site. Ya! =) I went out and bought a cheap lock to start on. I think I went to cheap... It is a Yale - Keyed Entry Set. I took it apart (my first time) I finally got the handle away from the rest so I only had the knob and the cylinder. However, the cylinder won't come out of the knob. It seems like the back of the knob was snapped in or made as one piece with the locking cylinder inside. It is loose in there, but I can't get it out. Is it even rekeyable? Should have just gone with a Kwikset.

I appreciate any advice. I'm trying to learn a hobby I've always been enthused with. Thanks.

PS. Is it posible to put a lock cylinder back together with the rest of the door knob part backwards? I put it back and the key would not come out. I pulled it back out and turned it around (what felt like I was anyway???) and then the key would come out. Am I just crazy? ;)

Yale Rekeying

Postby dsdayl » 27 Mar 2006 22:38

I don't know much but I know Google.

Here is a page where you can download the Yale Rekeying Manual
http://www.yalelock.com/Yale/Templates/ ... _1781.aspx

Let me know if this helps.

As for if you can assemble it backwards I have no idea. I have never disassembled a Yale lock.
If all else fails, change your syntax and search again.
