Masterlock 219

Postby weldman » 26 Feb 2006 3:33

I did some searching but could not tern up my locks #

I found this one in the shop and it does not have a key that i can find...i may have one for it somewhere.

anyways the zig-zag part spins freely but there's no pins in the core....its really open in there...

I was just wondering what is in this 219 masterlock and can it be picked with just a basic 5pc. set?

Thanks for your time.

Sounds like a warded padlock. Easy if you have the right tools, but you won't get it with a standard kit.

I agree with eric. Warded picks can be made easily enough simply by purchasing the same brand lock with keys. One simply grinds of all of the high bitting surfaces from the key except for the tip. This will work on most of your top brands of warded locks these days. You will need one key for each brand of lock. Or you can simply construction your own warded pick from hacksaw blade or decent wire.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

You may want to consider this:

Image

It's nothing more than a bent bicycle spoke, but works well. You put it all the way to the back of the lock, and feel for a springy part - when you feel this, turn the pick slowly and the lock will open.

You can also file/grind away at a key as said by eric. :)

If you have access to Locksport Archives there's a video I made showing the process.

Hope this helps. :)

I have been studying this type of master lock and picking then with paperclips :D . The first type is just a normal warden with a lever in the back that all you have to do is push down or as illusion said just file down a key to open it (you can use that tool on these). The second type goes on this wierd little metal thing that is up top theres two of them so when the key turns it hits both and the lock opens. My guess is that you have to pull those little bars that is holding the shackle in place so you can open the lock Or if you have anything skinny or really small to fit in the hole where the shackle is you can push them both away and you have the lock open.

219 is not the model number of your lock. What you have is a master 22.
