favorite pick and why?

Postby echohtp » 27 Feb 2006 1:09

after reading about what each pick is used for i decided to try and use the diamond pick i have in my SouthOrd set as a rake and a feeler and oh man it moved up to the top 3 picks ill use most, snake and feeler are in there as well, so i was just curious as to which picks people used and why they enjoy it over others.

:D

My favourite ones are hook and snake rake, allways start using the snake rake and if it doesn't work I use the hook (when the rake works it usually happens very fast). When none of those work I use the diamond tool, but I don't realy like this one though it works some times.

I've found my snake rake works fastest but my half-diamond works more often. On the slanted pins of my medeco, I've found my half-hook works best, since it doesn't slip as much (and I've had no luck raking at all on it).

I have the SouthOrd 11-piece set. Most of my other rakes I've just used 'for fun' to see if I could. The doubles oftentimes won't even fit.

I've just been trying the diamond tool just to be certain of what I said is true and... guess what. It isn't, I've been having a lot of sucess with the diamond tool. I think it is quit good in deed. I think I'm just starting to enjoy it a lot. :D

hmm... for normal, pin tumblers it'd be a hook.

Half-diamond for *trying* to pick my Medeco,

And dimple picks... well for dimple locks :P

For me it has to be my Mul-T-Lock set because they are earning me the most money at the moment

For cylinders it has to be my diamond and hook ( i get a feeling everybody is gonna say that )

But i guess my favorite picks of all are my Chris Belcher curtain picks, but i guess they dont really count for this thread.

Cheers
Steve

This thread is about your favourite picks... the CB picks are indeed valid on this thread.

Man they're cool I might add

In that case my CB's go to the top of the list, they are by far the most satsfying to use, and also the most difficult to get the hang of.

You guys in the US dont know what your missing

I favor the half-diamond, myself - I like that you can hit individual pins with it, but that it still moves kind of like a rake. Second is the L-Rake (on some locks, it's almost as good as a key), then the hook pick (for that unmatchable precision).
