Bogota picks--plug turns, but lock doesn't release?

I have replicated this problem on my same-keyed Schlage deadbolt and doorknob. The pins set and the plug spins, but the knob/deadbolt does not turn.

Have I hit a security pin?

I can single-pin pick both of these with a half-diamond. It's just with the Bogota rake that I'm running into this issue.

euro locks need the tip of the key to engage the cam. but you said schlage, there are some varieties of type there too, some have a cam (mortice cylinder) some have a 'tailpiece' and there are other varients on padlocks. more information about the lock will help people on the forum help you. generally if the plug turns, but the lock does not open, theres a mechanical disconnect that is either designed in like the euro, or is a malfunction.

Or you need to pick the lock in the opposite direction. If you are picking and turning the plug clockwise, try picking and turning counter clockwise. Since you are working with a schlage this is likely the problem.

I've found that when using another bogota-styled pick handle as a tension wrench, it's too wide and causes the plug to bind. In fact, I've never opened a lock when using said method. When I switch to my usual favorite tension tool and rake away with the bogota it works fine every time. Whenever I make a tension too out of street sweeper bristle I almost always need to file the width down (at least for the locks that I am currently picking).

on some little locks, like the master padlock of 4 pin variety, you can sometimes have the tensorblade allthe way through the plug, and it will block the full operation of the boltworks, so that the plug turns, but not all the way, stopping at the point where the tip of the tensor coming through the plug and out the back interferes with the turn. keep this in mind with master locks and other locks with short plugs.
