Master Lock 141D

Postby lonewlf387 » 10 Apr 2006 18:14

Im new here just got my first set of pick today. I was trying to pick a 141D Master Lock and was really happy cause I got it open in about 20 min. Then I tried to do it a few more times and I couldnt seem to get it to open again. Well just now I decided to try the key on it, and now the key will not go all the way in. It goes almost all the way in and feels like it get stuck on the last pin. Like the key will not go under the last pin. So Im wondering what I did? I know the key worked before i tried to pick it. Is this a security feature or did I just break the lock? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm..

Well, basically a key should work on a lock, otherwise there probably is something wrong..
Now the lock not opening anymore after you picked it (if it worked before you did) might be explained by you maybe having used too much torque..
Try to remember what you did that might have damaged the lock.

I doubt that it's a security feature.
Actually, reading your description to me it sounds like that last pin has been squeezed and won't move anymore.

Maybe go ahead and try with your pick to feel if the pin can be moved or if it feels like a strongly binding pin, maybe that'll get you further.

Good luck,

wiggle

I do not beleive this lock is routinely master keyed, so a slipped master pin is very unlikely. I would suggest you spray in a bit of lubricant, then try inserting your key. Give it a very light tap with a small hammer or block of wood etc, to see if that sets you straight. If not, well it wasnt a terribly expensive lock.

Yeah the last pin is stuck in place and will not move at all. I just spraved some lubricant on it and im going to let it sit over night. It wasnt an expensive lock although it annoys me that i broke it right after I first picked it. I made the mistake of buying lockpicks without the steel handles from southord. I didnt think there would be much difference but there is. So im waiting around for my lockpicks with steel handles. I cant press hard enough on the pin with these picks. Hopefully I can get it to work again. Thanks for the help.

IF you cant press hard enough with the picks you have, then you are using far far too much tension.

It wont move even when there is no tension at all. Not really sure how i messed the pin up either. I thought there might be security pins so i was trying to use as little tension as possible. I will figure it out though.
