Well what glue is it?

You can get glue remover and various chemicals will also remove it, a service later and the lock should be ok.

Nail varnish remover will work depending upon what as been used. And for the record that's the only time I would use nail varnish remover.

Well looking where your from it could be horse glue i suppose but pva is a good guess in which chip it off with your fingers or a pair of scissors, washing the lock would then get the remain glue off but be careful what you use, if it is horse glue then nail varnish remover as illusion said if its pva a wipe with a wet cloth of water will help.

Tell the teacher and let the janitor sort it out.

It is not that simple with some sorts of glues, for example with Poxipol. I've done some reading on the matter, and it seems that the only sure way to remove it is warming it up to high temperature (not too high... it's starting to be soft in around 200 celcius), and then washing away with a dissolvant. It is said to be resistant to dissolvants until it's warmed up.
