Nickel Lock... difficulty in pin picking

Postby Olcaytug » 12 Apr 2006 18:51

I can not pin pick nickel-locks!!!

Whenever I pick two pins and try to pick a third one, the first one escapes the shear line! When I increase the torque, I can pick three pins, but at the forth one the first pins are released again! I'm frustrated!!!

The lock I'm practicing on is a euro-profile and can be raked easily.. Is this a result of the quality of nickel preventing the alingment of pins from distorting?

I'm frustrated!!!

Regards...

Na its just tension control, i have a 6 pin brinks lock, i sometimes set all the security pins and if i push the pin to hard or loosen tension to much that one clicks but the entire cylinder is reset. Try gently bouncing tension whilst reducign tension pin pushing the false set pin up.

Try picking the 3rd and 4th pins first. Maybe you're running into mushroom pins. Can you disassemble the lock to peer inside?

Yes I can look inside, and I'm sure there is no security pin. I think the lock I does not have much misalingment & nickel prevents elastic deformation that normally keeps the pins from falling back!

Lock-makers are cheating! But I can cheat and use raking :) Still it is bad not being able to pin pick it!
