What pin is this?

Its the pin in the middle. I've never seen it before, but it looks rather secure and would make the lock hard to pick.

It appears to be a variation on the spool design. I dont see what would make that harder to pick than a standard spool pin.

Picking could be more dificult, but that would also defend against bumping which may be the intention of the design.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Kind of reminds me of something i've seen here...
(only first look, now having a closer look i see it's something totally different. ^^)

Well yeah, it might complicate bumping.
About picking: The pin will behave like a mixture of spool and serrated pin, i guess.
Hmm, not sure about anything of the above though ;)
Where did you find that image? Was there any description to it?

Wgl, the pic you posted is of a multilock pin in pin system, on that both pins need to be lifted, as you point out its totally differant.

Yeah, i know. It's just that i only had the shape of the picture in my mind and started searching around for that site, then had already entered the link until i realized it to be something completely different.
Just didn't like the idea of having blown my time to find it ;)

Nevertheless, it's a great guide to read :)

Hmm, not the best place to elucidate why i have that (ridiculous) username, but hey.. :P
To keep it short: I was young and didn't really speak english at all,
i believe i just thought it sounded funny and started using it as a nick (i had picked it up from the pc game "wiggles")

...And I used the nick happily ever after... ;)

Sorry, that was OT :-/

How did we go from an unknown pin to asking about a name?

Anyways, I'll ask the guy who gave me the picture where he got it when he comes online.
