torque wrench

this sounds really stupid but im a total beginner to lockpicking. i cant really figure out what the purpose of a torque wrench is.. and when picking a lock how do the pins stay in the place they should?

thats a good begginer question. its to hold the set pins in place so they dont fall back down, expeirement. lift the first pin of the lock without a tension wrench then lift it with a tension wrench and see what happends.
