just take it apart again and take a look. if there is a problem with the spring, then replace it with one of the other 3 you took out previously.
good luck.

of course, if you have to pull the plug to access the pins (which I think you have to with most ezset locks) that's a different story... hmmmmmm

one more thing... just because the pin feels loose, dosen't mean it shouldn't set. the fact that the key won't work makes me have to ask if maybe you left any of the driver pins behind when you were removing pins? did you remove 1 spring and 2 pins from each chamber? if you left any solitary driver pins behind, your key is gonna have problems. - that's all the thoughts I have at this late hour...

Another reason the key might not work could be he dumped out all the pins, and didn't put them back in order. Also, if he did remember to take out the pins, but left the springs in, that could be a problem.

Could be several things as others have pointed out. Please explain in detail HOW you removed the pins and replaced them, and exactly what parts you had left over after re-assembly.

Im postive i put the pins back in order i took out all the pins when i got the lock then aranged them with the key so that they were right then i put the top pins in a differnt place so i could not get them mixed up. then i put the springs in the [i think its coulded the hull its the big round thing that the plug goes in] and then i put the top pins in the but in a peice of rolled up newspaper to hold them there. then put the bottem pins in the plug and then slid the plug in and everything went fine for a while i picked it just fine then i tried picking it later and i think wat happened is the top pin went above the shear line and now it wont come back down so i cannot get the plug out any1 have ideas how to get it back down? ive tried a lot just to keep hitting the bottem pin up so that it would hit the top pin but no cigar

was you using the newspaper like a plug follower or did you wrap the pins in small pieces and then stick the wrapped pins in the holes?? I am a bit confused by your wording there.

Here's a mistake I made once upon a time that caused me this problem.
After loading the pins into the plug I then proceeded to load pins and springs into the cylinder. Problem was that I started at the back of the cylinder instead of the front. This naturally caused the last set of pins to only have a top pin and spring with no bottom pin causing the spring to jam the plug.

yes i used the rolled up newspaper as a follower and i im almost 100% i put the pins in the first to holes not the last to but like i said i think the 2nd top pin went above the shear line and is stuck

well, that makes no sense really. If the top pin was above the shear line and the bottom pin fell below the shear line the lock should still open.
For it not to open someting has to be obscuring the shear line.
Count your left over springs and pins and see what you have, then look around real good to make sure you didn't lose one of the pins out when you were putting it back together.
One more thing: Are you getting ANY plug movement at all?

hmmm, well I'm all out of ideas and can't really help any without seeing the lock first hand. From the information you've given me I have to assume that you have it back together correctly. The only other thing left for me to say is that maybe you aren't really getting the first pin set right and it is not letting the second one bind. Without seeing what you did when you modified it I can really have no idea. Sorry I couldn't help more.
