Wouldnt this work for impressioning locks?

I was just thinking about how to make a homeade tubular pick. The best way I figured would be to get a piece of material which was malliable. Like the silly putty method. It seems to me like the plastic which is used to form the insides of skates would be perfect. You just leave it in boiling water and it becomes soft. The beauty behind this method is after you have picked the lock you would have a usable duplicate once you let the plastic cool. I saw some material on this site http://www.shapelock.com/page2.html . Just wondering if anyone tried this yet?

It has been used on a tubular lock i think but i cant remember who posted it up, silly putty was also tried.

It was in a thread a few eeks ago so a good search should bring the disscussion up.
