Dear nixz,

As there are often people coming on this website asking how to open cabinets, which some don't own, we have grown rather sceptic.

Any way to take our doubt away that you own this cabinet would be great.
If not, you very likely won't be encountering much help from us, out of fear that you are someone who wants to break into a cabinet at work, school or etcetera.

We don't do this to spite you, if you actually own the cabinet we cincerely apologise for asking proof. But it would really be bad for our consience if we were helping out criminals.

Again, this is not to offend you, but if you would take, at random, 10 questions from members with 1 post, 4 will be from people who want to play a prank or commit a more serious felony. One easily grows suspicious.

I hope that we can help you, i really do. Anything helps.

Yours,

Jordy

oh my goodness, i totally understand.
I am a school teacher myself, i can asure you that i DO NOT want to break into anything at work as this would only mean.....more paperwork to complete!
The problem is very simple, years ago, i split from my partner and i changed our daughters surname by deedpoll, anyway, my parents are taking my daughter abroad in two weeks and they need a copy of the deedpoll certificate which i had locked away in one of those domestic type filing boxes. I havent needed to go into it for years and as you can imagine, a house full of children with a recent housemove has seen to the fact that anything put into neat places (ie the keys) has since vanished!
If you cant advise me then that is fine, i totally understand, it will mean breaking the box somehow to get what i need, not a great problem really i just wanted to know if there was a simpler way!
Thanks for your reply, i am now really intrigued by who comes on here!

Where up north are you? in the UK?

Any chance of a pic of the box and lock, is it a fileing cabinet.

As for the sort of people? we good ones but we do get the odd kid that wants to steal that soon gets told where to go.

Simple wafer lock, can be done with paper clips if your not adapt at picking.

But can be bypassed much easier.
