can someone tell me what the most common tools are, for example, to unlock my front door?
i dont want to have to make 15 tools if i only need say.... 3?

and can someone give me an alternative to carving to make tools?
and not buying them?

like bicycle spokes... etc.?

might be a good idea to start off by browsing some of the info in the forums before you start askin general questions like that. i suggest you look around on the internet abit (google MIT lockpicking guide) and get a general understanding about how lockpicking works. when i first started i was abit hesitant to make my own picks but its not all that hard and beats buying them right away. I wouldn't try to start lockpicking with spokes or streetsweaper brissles, as you probibly won't have alot of luck.

By the southord 5 piece set with the easy pickings book.. its vauge but good for a beginner, make tools after you have established a style so the tools you produce will fit your style oh yea deffinatly use the search function to..not to be a smart arse, just letting you know. But if money is short..it always is with all of us :D go to the sponsored website and use the code lp101 for 10% discount that will knock out shipping and possibly some off the price good luck buddy.
