key broken

hello,

Maybe this is not the kind of problem for this forum but with your experience with locks and lock picking I think someone could help me out. The key of my door is broken en stuck in the lock. I would really likke to get that remaining piece out of my door lock, that could save me 150 dollars for getting a whole new lock. If you know a solution I would be very grateful.

what kind of key are you talking about.
Maybe you could try to push it out from the other side of the lock.

Straighten a fishing hook out and try to 'fish' (lol) it out.

Other than that call a locksmith its not hard to do and you should only be charged for the callout, a new lock is not nessacary if no other problems are apparent.

A broken key extractor... or if he was Mc. Guyver style then possibly a fish hook. :wink:

Anything that gets the key out BUT he is insured and shouldnt do any damage and if he does the lock will be replaced free as its his mess up.

I carry the odd fishing hook, we dont only carry new shiney tools you know.

well tommyschakenbos get yourself a Broken Key Extractor Set
and try to fish the key out the lock.
Its only 30 bucks.

Or just get a fishing hook - costs about 3 bucks, and that's providing you have to buy it in the first place... No need to spend $30 for a 1-time job.

Get a fishing hook for pence, it will do the job an extractor set is only around 50% going to work depending on what set you get and how big the keyway is.

Def-con, do you actually know what your doing or just handing out advice? if not dont, learn a bit first before adviseing people to go out and spend money as they wont be very happy when they find youve made them waste it.

hi,

thanks all for the quick responses. I tried with a saw from my figure saw. It's a really thin saw, i got it along to the key in the lock, but didn't get the key, out it seemed to have not enough grip on the key. It slipt away when I tried to pull te saw including te keypiece out. But i will try it with a fish hook, i hope that will do the job.
