still cant pick my first lock raking

Well ive had my rake pick for 3 days now and still havent managed to pick my first lock. ive been practicing on my clother locker at work, the key has an identical profile on the top and bottom. So i put my wrench in the middle and rake top and bottom but to no avail? can anyone help me please, oh my pick is the kwik pick one shall i bin it and buy a good beginners set?

You would be better with a beginers set to be honest.

If the key is cut both sides im guessing its a wafer lock so you should only be useing the ball pick to rake it, you may not be pushing up or down enough while you rake,
A double pronged tensio wrench is the better one to use on such a lock rather than a single legg in the middle of the lock plug.

If its a pin lock then forget raking, dont start bad habits from the begining, raking isnt picking and youll soon get sick of it and its lack of skill to achieve, look for Digital blues guide on single pin picking and follow that.

one thing shrub didnt mention, you should not pick locks you rely upon.

picking can cause damage and lock faliure.

but good lock anyways.
