They have a ligitimate use... Should ebay ban screwdrivers?
That said, totally a good option for [easily] making bump keys - I went in to my local locksmith and bought five or so different keyways cut to 999...
Or they could buy a file! Perhaps then they would learn a bit too!
Picks?!?! We don't need no stinkin picks!

There's nothing wrong with legitimately selling depth keys on eBay. They're very valuble locksmith tools to those who don't have the luxury of a code cutter.

Kwikset depth keys make very poor bumpkeys. Its any wonder that people have ever gotten them to work. They need to be cut like a Schlage with no flat bitings and high peaks.

Is a depth key the same thing as a bump key? If it is --> I have one a lockie made for me - but its my only one and I want to go and get copies made before I attempt to use it. I'm afraid the key will be damaged due to the way the area where the fob/ring attaches seems very thin.

depth keys come in sets for each lock manufacturer, though, they do not have to come in every keyway of that manufacturer, each key in a set is cut to a certain depth in every position, so that if you are trying to cut a key to code, and the cuts are 3 5 9 7 4 you would use the depth key cut to all fours to do the tip cut, then remove that depth key from the stylus jaw, and replace it with the all 7 cuts depth key to do the next cut. and so on. bump keys are really only the 9 cut depth keys. cut 99999 though it should be possible to bump a lock with depth keys of less depth if the lock is not fitted for long bottom pins. Depth keys have been largly replace by code cutting machines, an example of useing a $1500 machine to replace a $3 set of depth keys. If you don't have depth keys, you can still copy individual cuts for such locks as schlage or american which come with a direct readout on the original keys if you have a collection of original keys to copy from with all the depths in all the places represented. It is a security flaw for these companies to write the cuts on the key, anyone who sees the key can just copy the number and that is all the information needed to copy one.
