Hi All,
Has anyone seen the "real deal" dvd about safe openings from lockmasters? If so what is it like. is it worth that amount of money.
Are there any other dvds about with similar content.
Is there any training material such as books and dvd for safe opening that people can recommened.
I have 3 good books All from the USA, any for the Uk market.
Any help getting started with safe opening material or training would be gratful.
Kev

Nah just posting said material, the guy just wants to know if it's worth his money
On the other hand, never seen it but try the LSS for more info on the material.
but you might get a better reply on that dvd business if you post the actual name of it no just a general description of the title

the name of the dvd sounds like one of those con jobs that dosen't live up to the promise, but read Dave Mccomies stuff and see if he mentions it, if he does then its probably good. just google for McComie or Jeff Sitar to troll for any sources of info that these guys may mention and follow the links.

I dont think a dvd will be available that will show you what you need to know, the people that know dont tend to spread it around so easily,
Get the dave mscomie boks on disc as said and then look into some training.

Hi Shrub,
I have Dave Mccomies book on high security safes, great book. I also have carl clouds book on safe drilling. Both are good reads and i would like to train but who will train in the Newcastle area?
I can understand why its hard to get info, but there is nothing for the UK and most is for the USA>
Thanks
Kev

Well i think Safe Ventures do safe training and so will Chris Belcher but you must understand to go straight into safe work without oporating as a lockie first is like peeing in the wind, you need to get all that background first then a few years down the line maybe think about looking into safes, its certainly not somthing you can do from get go and youll not get any training on the subject from anyone unless your a traind and oporating lockie either,
It would be financial suicide to jump straight in to safes without becoming a basic locksmith first.

It's financial suicide to just jump into safes at all! Most lockies know hte basics after a while, and the smaller cheaper safes aren't a major issue once you know what you are doing. However, if you can't pick a good BS lever lock, you won't stand a chance against even a cheap old safe. As for picking a modern safe lock with wires, well, they are called safes for a reason. The plague of lock boxes with double bitted locks, which are a new thing to master, the cheap electronic safes and so on all add to the sheer mass of info you need to learn.
Then you get a call out to a Mosler or a big Chubb, and you realise you are so far out of your depth, you wish you had never started being a locksmith!
Honestly, forget going on a training day/week/month and learning safes. Even after years in the trade, pros still get new things occurring, because new stuff appears on the market every day.

I can't vouch for this DVD or its producer, but I can vouch for the website which has exclusive rights to sell it. They have been alright in my experience, and are especially friendly and helpful over the phone. They also sell HPC products at the lowest price of any other website I've seen.
If you want to see a demo of the DVDs, follow this link and click the blue thumbnail of "The Real Deal". No price is given on their website, and they accept phone orders only, so expect it to be expensive.
