Abloy locked vending machines

Postby Jeep_Man » 8 Jul 2006 2:27

Hello all.

I come to you with help with a little problem I have. I run a local vending company here in town. We recently bought a lot of used vending machines. All fairly new machines and look to be in good working order.

The problem is, the machines are all locked and I don’t have a key. All the machines have Abloy locks installed into them. When I was first looking at buying the machines I asked about a key so I could take a look at the coin mech and DBV as well as the mechanical parts of the machines, but the guy said he’d lost the only key he had to them. Got a great deal on the machines so I can’t really complain about them being locked, but it sucks having them sit in my warehouse and I cant place them yet.

I contacted a local locksmith about these locks and he wants to charge us $75 to drill each one, plus an hourly rate. This is not really what I want to do. I can care less about these locks my self. I’d drill them my self, but from what I’ve read on the internet, these locks are hard to drill out.

What are my options for removing these locks with out damaging the machines?

Thanks in advance for your time,
Ross

These locks are for the advanced discussion for the most part. I'd say that the lockie is shooting you a decent price depending on the type of abloy lock installed on each machine. Please don't drill them yourself, you'll only make more of a mess than you want to deal with  . IF you happen to luck out and drill an abloy out correctly chances are you will not do it right on all of your machines. Leave it to a pro please, you will be happier in the long run  .
