How many lock pickers

Postby greyman » 8 Jul 2006 17:51

According to the LP101 front page counter, there are over 16000 registered members. That's a big number, but I wonder how many lurkers there are? How many people would also be reading forums like this one but don't bother registering (or maybe don't know English)? Can the mods figure this out?

On the same subject, how many (regular) lock picking competitions are? I don't mean the trade sponsored ones, I mean open (public) ones like TOOLS Dutch open.

Well there are around 11777 members with zero posts, so that counts them as either lurkers. There is a very significant number of people with under 10 posts who no longer post, so this could be considered lurking.

There are 211 people with over 100 posts - You guys represent a significant presence on this forum, keep up the good work. :)

As far as unregistered users go... I expect the number is fairly large since there are almost always 'guests' on this site. :?

I used lurk, just read and take in the info for quite a while until i have started posting.

I feel it takes a while until you get the skills to be able to talk about lockpicking in the forums.

HWne I fuirst came to the site I registered, but did not post much. I spent a lot of time reading every thread I could, in fact I've read perhaps 85% of this entire site, and it took a while to do. I don't think I've learnt so much in merely 3 days of solid reading.

The ammount of n00b threads makes the job reeaaaallly long since you have to sift through a lot of crap, but sometimes you find a real diamond-in-the-rough on info. :)

I love the site. I have a question, i do a search and get the answer.
I have come across alot of n00b's who have not even read the rules or db
exercise on lock picking, and then having to be told to go there.

ps great guide on warded locks. I didn't know how easy they where to pick
until i read your guide.

Illusion as ive said privatly the best sig so far,

Im a lurker

I have read all the site and quite a few threads many times, it took me a few months of solid reading to read every post and i didnt skip any, this was back in the day and i learnt a lot of what i know now through that,

I wonder how many join then realise they arent goign to be told how to get free soda or how many join just so they can use the view posts since last visit button,

I have so many posts because i read every post, i have a big mouth and like to talk about locks and picking them so i tend to comment on a lot of them which begs the questio how many threads are information only, info only then locked, useless posts from noobs or actual discussions,

Free soda's huh? Lol i never thought of going to a soda machine just to the fridge in the basement filled to the gills with DR. Pepper, the dirnk of the goods, plus to get free soda just know people that work at Mcdonalds or a pizza shop.

I hate those posts though, if you really think about it, its so stupid. I could jsut picture some noob with a tubular pick trying to open a Coke machine in front of a walmart  Not only that you don;t think people or someone will notice the huge door swing open :P

Well i posted a looonnngg time ago my buddies i met while working at my uncle's pizza shop they would come in a service refill repair the soda machines and cranes and such, and i don;t think people realize they are pretty much a safe with sodas, theres locks on the T handle door theres another lock on the little rieforced door and on each of the money boxes.

In todays machines they mostly use medecos, the cam style ones, and don't ever thing (this goes out the noobs) that those vending guys don't know about locks and security.

Then open one that the mob owns, like on boardwalks and stuff. I was so fed up back then when i was trying to learn i was goind to make a vid having my buddy paul actually show you one.

It really is a foolish waste of time, besides wal-mart has 12 packs for 2 bucks and 24 packs for 3$, how can you beat those prices?

I don't have many posts, but I'm new to the site and I try to post on any story I have an opinion on. On almost all of those posts my opinion is just another question  but I figure if I ask you guys every question that I don't know the answer too, soon I'll know everything I can need to know :P thanks for the help guys, I'll keep up with my simple questions if you keep up with your long answers.

I've been a member here for just over two years (member 2380!), and I've only made about 89 posts - am I a lurker, or just slow? :)
[One day, I'm going to apply for the Advanced section, just to see if I get accepted....]

how many lock picking competitions?

Postby greyman » 9 Jul 2006 6:58

Thanks for the replies, guys. I know there are heaps of lurkers, but please don't every lurker feel inclined to send a post to prove they are lurking - we would be sumberged!

Can anyone help with the second part of the original post: how many lock picking competitions are there (regular ones that are non-trade)?

If there was one in Poland, it probably would end up with all 3 contestants trialed and locked away for inapropreate intents. ^.^
