I know there's a thread on lockie tales, but most of them are horror stories. I'd like to hear about some enjoyable locksmith stories.
I had one a couple of weeks ago that I still think about. I got a call for an emergency car unlock with a baby locked in the car. This was the first emergency call that I had received and it made me a little nervous. We had been having 95+ degree temperatures (35+ degree Celsius). Fortunately this day it had been raining off and on and it was a lot cooler.
To make matters worse I was not very close to the area and it was a Lexus, and I had not yet opened a Lexus. I was also told the fire department was on the scene and unable to get in the car. I have since wondered if it had been 95+ degrees if the fire department would have knocked out a window.
When I arrived the mother was distraught and in tears. There was a coat hanger hanging out of one door and one of the fireman said that they almost got it once.
I was surprised that I was able to get in this car so easily, it probably took less than a minute. The baby was fine and I got a big hug and thank you from mom before I left.
Doing unlocks are a lot of fun, but calls like this can make your day.

Babies / toddlers locked in cars, offices, washrooms, and just about any other room with a lock. Done that. Doors locked to trap escaped pet snakes, tarantulas, rabbits, rats, and mice. That too. However the most memorable was opening a safe that a female clerk hid inside ( to scare her boss ) and had the handle sheer off when the door was closed by her partner in the prank.

The safe stood aprox 6.5 feet tall double doors so it was fairly wide, The possibility of suffocation was definitly there, she remained calm and that I'm sure helped her. She is very petite and I'm sure I could fit in this unit, so there was lots of room for her.

Good job. How long did it take you to manipulate it open, and get it open with that broken handle?
On a side note, a friend of mine who is working as a fireman (they also do first aid jobs and wreckage cutting and other stuff like that here in Germany) told me that anyone who noticed a baby in a locked car on a hot day should hold on and check on the baby (crying, red face, etc.) If there are any signs of danger, it is legal for you to smash a window to relieve the situation and then call the cops. There will be no charges whatsoever. He talked about a "fair waiting period" of some minutes, but what the heck. If you think the baby is in danger just smash the fscking window. If the mother is so stupid that she will leave the carpet rat in the car, maybe the cost of a new window will tell her that this is a not a clever thing to do.
I hate those people. Shopping for shoes while the baby is baking.
Due to financial limitations the light at the end of tunnel has been turned off until further notice.

nothing like that for me yet. closest one i've had was a guy's groceries locked in his trunk on a relatively warm day.
hey... it was a sort-of emergency. there were DAIRY PRODUCTS in there!

XD oh dear, at first I thought pfft, why call someone to unlock your groceries, that's not an emergency. but then, I thought you really woundn't want them to be left in there too long on a warm day. Can you say A Fresh Sour Milk Scent?

The safe combination was open and there were people on the outside who knew it if it was required, the opening of the door required nothing more than getting the remaining bit of the spindle to turn. I took a hammer and punch 3 or 4 hits and the door opened
