Hello all i'm new here.
I've been picking locks for a while but I don't really have many locks and I want to expand my range. I've been to some local locksmiths and asked very nicely if they had any locks they can let go for a minimal price. Most of them were very nice and a couple gave me some for free. The thing is I want to get a lot of them and I can't find a good source. Is there anywhere like this? Otherwise I suppose I will have to spend a fortune on different ones.
Thanks.

Well, if I go to my fiends house, I ask if they have any locks that they don't have keys too, lots of people do. That's how I got a few free padlocks.

Go to a used Building supply place. If the locks on the doors don't have keys to them they will give you the lock just for taking it from the door something they have to do anyway before re-selling it.

Agree yard / boot sales are a great source, and if you are after a particular lock ebay is hard to beat.
Maybe demolition sites, speak to one of the builders and ask him to collect some locks and give him some cash for doing so. also Junk yards, and car scrap yard for car / ignition locks. Take some tools so you can remove them from doors etc.

Nah.. £10 for postage, and £5 for the locks.
Some of the postage rates on Ebay are financial sodomy though...

You're in the UK! Ask to pick up the locks-- can't be more than an hour's drive in any direction.

In the USA there are "thrift stores" were they sell donated items for charity,, Salvation Army and Goodwill to name a few.. go in and ask the "sorters" if they have any locks, especially with out keys.
Keep in mind :locks with out keys are of no use to most people and make great fishing weights. Dont pay more than fishing weight prices!

A friend of a friend just bought a large mini storage property, several hundred units. He told my pal that he needed a couple of hundred padlocks cut off, and he had a guy to do them for a buck a copy, my friend told him he had someone who could beat that price. I bet I can up to and including free. I'll let you know how it works out. This does'nt make sense, unless he didn't get the keys from the prior owner, but we'll see.
