I once got a 3 pin Medeco cam lockfrom a UK seller, but it was an exceptional circumstance.

I would suggest buying one from a US seller, since the shipping shouldn't be much, and you will have more chance of getting lucky. I bought one for around £15 including postage recently, and it arrived faster from the US than a package sent from the UK!

Just out of curiosity-- what is the high-security lock of choice in the UK? I'm thinking abloy or kaba are a pan-european thing, but does the UK have its own homemade high-security lock?

You dont really need high security locks they will just find another way in,

Windows are most common but i would say getting a yale is as far as i would go to buying locks.

That would be the Chubb M3--yeah, it's a medeco M3, Chubb bought out the right to use it in the U.K.

So, actually, if you want a Medeco and don't care that it says Chubb on it, you could just get one of those.

As an American this gives me a tinge of pride. If it weren't for Medeco there would be no redeeming American locks (ok maybe some of the higher-security Schlages, but still). :D

Bramah?
Due to financial limitations the light at the end of tunnel has been turned off until further notice.

pan-european?
Well, locks are very diverse across Europe. In the southern countries you can find double-bitted lever locks on doors, in Germany those are usually reserved for safe locks or some alarm locks.
In the U.K. you find a lot of mortice lever locks.
In the northern countries Abloy is popular, and KABA in Switzerland. But those are very seldom in Germany - you can find KABA a bit more often, though.

The same goes for the way people show their alarm systems (the "bell" boxes)... In Germany they were usually made of steel and painted gray or brown, matching to the space they were mounted, so that they are hard to spot. 'Don't show them too openly, burglars could think there's something worth stealing...'
In the U.K., they are usually made from colorful plastic, sometimes with blinking LEDs, so that the would-be-burglar can't miss them and get scared...

There are very different security-cultures :)

These days, there is Globalization, though. That all starts to mix a lot.

Cheers,

As already said, in the UK its things like mortice locks and Bramahs that rule the roost but there are many other types of cylinder used like Doms, Gege, Kaba, Evva, MTL etc etc

Our keyways are a lot smaller than yours as well,
