i can pick a small American icor like its a kwikset but i have a very large best padlock i cant get. the American i borrowed from someone that i lost and just found has 6 spools and six serrated pins. it opens easy for me and the best i can see it has all serrated on the bottom. why is there such a difference. there both icor and they look like they have the same pins the only real difference is the American is small and the best is very large.

is there a post about getting the pins and springs back into a very small icor :)

You might find that the pins in the best padlock have a greater variation in length. For example, if you have a very short pin located behind a very long one, it would certainly be harder to pick than if the lengths of the pins were similar. Hope that helps .. :)

More importantly, is it an SFIC (I don’t know if Best makes any locks that are not SFIC, so I assume it is). SFIC’s have two sheer lines, which can make them very difficult to pick reliably to one of the sheer lines. The two sheer lines in SFIC’s can be a great security feature.

2 shear lines! wow...aint seen that before. so is that done by having a drop in the plug? where there are two different heights? and the plug fits into the shell like a puzzle?

should i be calling them sfic and not i cor . the best is shaped like a eight
the american has just a squair block on top where the pins and springs are. the american also takes a control key like the best.

A bigger lock also has the possability of bigger/stronger springs,

2 shearlines can be gained by useing a sleave over the plug,
