Difference between Basic and Shchlage practice locks???

Postby Ryzom » 10 Jan 2004 19:55

I think the title pretty much asks the question. What is the difference between a basic practice lock and the Schlage practice lock? I have the basic one which I learned on. But I would like to know what exactly is different about a Schlage practice locks. THanks!

This may have nothing to do with what you are asking, but I have found that Schlage locks are extremely hard to pick for someone who is relatively new to picking. Can can few but it takes me like 20 plus minutes, when a kwikset take less than 5 seconds.

They're better machined, on the low end of schlage. On the high end, yes, they have spool pins.

Your "practice lock" is probably just a better machined lock than the basic.

By practice lock, I assume you mean a cutaway or see-through lock?

If so, no.

If you just want a lock to practice on, go to your local hardware store and buy a high-end Schlage or a decent American padlock.
