yet another bump key question

Postby freeballer » 3 Sep 2006 17:00

I got my first pickset a few months back, just basic set.. it's a little scary that someone like me can get most locks I've tried (although sometimes takes a little while). I've heard more and more reports about bump keys, even showing a 10yr old girl doing it with no prior experience.. little freaky! I want to try a few locks around my place to see how vunerable my locks are.

Can someone point me where I can get them made or a for dummies guide to make bump keys and the materials I need?

here is another view of safety lockbox and it's keyhole. can someone identify it?

Thanks for your time

I think that the best advice to give you is DON'T do this to the locks in your house.

Another bump key question

Postby greyman » 7 Sep 2006 10:21

With a title like the one this thread has, it's making me think about whether there should be a dedicated bump key forum on LP101???

try searching for jiggler or marshall keys, they are amazingly useful in auto locks, and they're made from standard blanks.

I been searching the net and found this site that seems to sell quality bump keys if you are interested in trying it out.

Unbelivable - a whole forum devoted to bumping...I am speechless.. :o

I mean, cut blank key down to relevant depth and spacing to suit lock being bumped, file smidge off shoulder and tip, insert and hit, applying slight turn split second after hitting. There!! How hard was that!

, now I have contributed to yet another bump key thread.

And 'bumped' the post back to top again...

Deepest apologies to all. I shall take myself away somewhere quiet and write out a thousand times..." I must not mention the B word on this forum"

regards

http://lockpicks.com they sell bump keys. For m1 kw1, and sc1. Or call up a local lockshop, and ask them to code cut you a key. For the kwickset you'll want 77777, and for most other locks its 99999. Do research for pin depths on the locks you want to bump.

I'll have a set of 9 Depth Keys from Ebay in a day or so. I was thinking I can make them into bump keys with a bit of modification. Am I right, or did I waste my money?

I did a bunch of searching on the forums here and I found out a good bit about bump keys, but not the difference between them and depth keys.

And yes. I'm a newbie. If it's any consolation I should have a South Ord PXS-14 pick set tomorrow also. I'm not planing on just being just a bumpaholic..:) - Joe
