Question about Schlage

Postby 5thcorps » 14 Sep 2006 12:19

My first post to the forum although I've been browsing it for some time. Been Picking for about 2 years. Does anyone know what the 4 holes on the plug of a Schlage deadbolt are for? They are just about 1/4 of an inch away from the pin holes.

They are probably for construction balls,

If you look up construction locks you should find how these work,

They are the contruction ball holes. Other manufacturers have them as well. Their not used in most locks, unless their part of a new subdivision or school/office bldg etc.

Thanks for the info. My first schlage I ever picked I opened it up and found 4 spool pins and a regular in the 5th position. I picked it this way a few times then after put in a 5th spool pin to make it a little harder. But with time I was opening it within 20-30 seconds pretty consistently.
