I have successfully taken 5 of the 6 pins out of my Tri-Circle 266 with your guide. I used duct-tape as a cap and it seems to work fine. I figured out why I was having trouble with this particular lock. It had 6 mushroom pins. I have been practicing on one of the pins for now and it is still fairly difficult with one but I am getting faster. This was an awesome procedure and it has taught me lots about how locks work. I felt impressed when I was done. The questions I have is when I took the lock apart it had 7 holes or slots and 6 of them were pins and springs. The 7th had a stainless steel large spring inside of it that just popped out. I re-pined it with only one pin without the spring and it seems to work fine. (The key also works) I was wondering what that spring was used for and if it is important. I was also thinking about re-pining this lock with only one mushroom pin and 5 normal pins and then slowly working my way to 6 mushrooms when I get better feel for the lock. Would a locksmith sell me 5 pins or would it be better to order some off the internet. Thanks.
