R U Fluent in French ? Research on c/gen lockpicks?

Postby pickmonger » 26 Oct 2006 7:51

I am trying to get additional information on lockpicks that had their profile generated by computer simulation.

The idea being that it is possible to simulate almost all the possible key patterns thus creating effective profile lock picks. By simulate, I mean that the patterns will not be the exact cuts, but close enought to work. Exact patterns would involve thousands or millions of picks being needed.

3 well known examples of the profile pick family are: the Compu Picks by HPC, Majestic's High Teck Picks, and Initial's Super Picks.

Initial's Super Picks

The pickset known as Super Picks are the one's that I need help getting information on. They were designed and patented by Mr. Jacques Peyronnet of Société Initial Sécurité in Paris, France.

A search of numerous databases failed to turn up the patent #id for this tool however.

I am hoping that a member of this site, who is fluent in french, and also a locksmith, would be willing to write to Mr Peyronnet and get as much information ,about how this pickset was designed, as he is willing to provide.

I am sure that some one a Initial speaks english, but it might be easier, and more considerate, to make the enquiry in their native language.

Ideally Jacques would either be able to give us a copy of the patent or where it could be found.

INITIAL is a distributor of Sargent and Greenleaf locks for safes.

Inquiries about Super Picks may need to be made to Jacques personally.

I have the HPC's and the Majestics are next on my hit list. Never heard of Initials. They look interesting too.

Go ahead and write the request in English. I can translate it for you as I am fluent in French. I do not think however that you will receive a reply. I also know that the French are very tight lipped about security. There is no harm in trying though.

BTW, what makes you think that these picks are patented? Surely many others have made similar tools and they can't really claim patentable features?

I doubt they are computer generated. Not that it matters if they work.
Has any one ever heard of them before?

The only site I have found with a set for sale is this German site: http://www.schluesseldienstbedarf.de/

Key in 2200 in the search field on the bottom right and you should find them. The set seems to comprise of 30 single sided and 16 double sided picks

There is also another set around unless its the initial ones ive seen, i will look them up as i think i know where they can be purchased,

They come in like a press out sheet as they come from the laser cutter and are only single sided, cant remember the name but were simular as i say to the initials,

Mark Bates at mbausa.com sells them, as does http://zieh-fix.com/Shop/en-us/dept_9.html

In zieh-fix advert copy, they mention that they were patented. As well as how to use them... Even with out the picks its an interesting read.

There were several other places that mentioned that they were patented as well.

Jacques P , has a number of patents on locksmith type tools, so I tend to believe that these to were patented.

One of the pro locksmith magazines also did a story about this style of picks a number of years ago.

Hold your pick with fingers as light as if you were writing a love letter with a real feather pen, not an insult letter with a ball point.

gotta love that

Maybe I need to wait until I have access to the advanced forums, but I want more info on these compu picks. It doesn't make any sence to me. Are they just fancy rakes?
