Canadians... Help me...

Postby Bomberman » 26 Jan 2004 1:18

I would like to buy a set of lock picks, but I am worried about them crossing customs if I order from an American web site. Have you ordered picks from an American site?? Were there any problems with the shipping?? I've looked around for information regarding the legality of these tools but I can't find anything... in fact, I don't really know where to start looking. If anybody knows of any Canadian companies that sell lock picks on the web or not, could you let me know?? I've searched the internet, but I can't find any...

Thanks everybody!!

Some people have mentioned this in the below thread. Anyone got any more to add either on these shops or shops that post to canada?

BTW fyi in the law thread it mentioned US postal laws and also the law restricting US companies form selling to someone they can not verify. I have not read it in a while so dont quote me but have a look at the thread.

im canadian, and got a kiwkpick across.

In a few days i will let you know how my other orders come along. I have 2 tubular picks, an electric pick gun, and a tubular drill bit comming.

Well see how that works out.

If its good, then order from lockpicks.com.

If you order your picks separately (no kit) they will come lose in a padded mailer (my experience from S.O.). I would imagine that these would be far less of an 'interest' to "border folk". I often wonder WTF happened to NAFTA as well, but it truely is a random roll of the dice if you order accross the border. There are no distributers in canada that will sell to average walk-ins that i can find. The other option is to spend the same amount of $ and buy the materials needed to make your own, they will be stronger and better than a S.O. pick, but i digress, i've said to much on that topic as it is...

so take your chances with a 1-2 week wait in the mail, or go for the guaranteed option with the investment of a little time and with a little trip to wally-world or crappy-tire you can have a small set made tonight...
