nope I reccommend this http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-MPXS-14.html
save you money with this kit and buy a cheap deadbolt at your local wallyworld or home despot

The cheapest one looks good. The other ones might be a bit overpriced. If all of the locks are cutaways, that is a good deal. If you already know how a lock works, you dont need the cutaway locks and your money might be better spent on more picks. But the quality of products from that site is high, so you cant go wrong

I was thinking about that one, but like I said I know hardly anything about locks and I think a cutaway lock would be better to practice on. This Set that I'm looking at comes with the 14 piece set.

go with the mpxs-14. its a lot better for beginners. trust me and UWSDWF. we know what we're talking about.
and you MAY* want to look into a couple (as in literally 2) slimline picks, although, i dont know how much lps charges for the slims.
i would say forget the cutaways, in general, you will probably pick up all that you would learn with the cutaway from a regular deadbolt (note i said DEADBOLT AND NOT PADLOCK.)
do what UWSDWF said, go with the mpxs-14 and then pick up a deadbolt or maybe even two if you have the money, first thing you do once you get those deadbolts, you take it apart. repin it to the key, and then when your picks arrive, follow digital_blues beginner exercise. if you follow what we say, its almost* impossible to go wrong.
* note, almost is not a lifetime guarantee. but we really know our stuff.

learning to pick on a cuttaway is like learning how to have sex from a porno... sure you'll learn the basics but you'll probably get slapped if you try anything you see there in real life.

Actually, the sex is fine.
Its trying to use the pick up lines that will really get you into trouble.
Although, for some of the more ADVANCED maneuvers you had better have a pretty adventurous partner.
Still I agree about cut aways. There isn't a lot uf use to them once you get past the gee whiz factor of seeing inside the lock.

Nope not really. i started off with a southord 4 pick set and have got a few more along the way.
Ide recommend getting the 4 pick set that suites ur size lock normal/slim line depending on where in the world you are. then maybe pick up a couple of various rakes and a different hook. and a tension tool with a twist in it is always good if ur picking for more than 30mins at a time
Correct me if anyone thinks im steering him wrong as im still an armature but this is how i have gone and it seems to be working for me
