Lock Picking Championship?

Postby stilte » 22 Dec 2006 6:24

Some guy appeared locally selling lock picks on the internet. He claims that he's "looking to gain a higher placing in the Lock picking championships which pays a first prize of over 50,000 US$."

Now that smells real bad of that brown slimy stuff.

Are there any lock picking competitions around that actually pay good money to the winners?

That we know of. No.

And selling lockpicks does nothing for winning a championship, so tell him to look elsewhere. Even invite him here so we can laugh him off.

He says he's a distributor, but I wouldn't believe it with his feedback. Anyone can import and mark-up to spy shop prices.

I think it just gave me an idea... 8)

Ill watch how those picks sell and figure out if there is really a market for them. I would imagine the majority of people would buy them for the cool factor, rather than as a serious hobby. Although locksmiths may purchase bigger sets, most will want the bare minumum because of price..

The guy just started the account in november, maybe he got his distributorship only recently. One thing for sure, his prices are crazy. Someone will probably buy them eventually, but that's natural selection for you.
