Im new and need help

i have a basic shlage lock.... i have opened other shlage locks with no problem but this one no matter how much presure i put on the tension rench the pins still dont lock .. they slide to easy what do i do?? :?:

Are you sure you move all pins? It sounds like you missed the one binding pin...

or maybe you are putting TOO MUCH TENSION. the real key to picking is light tension. master that and the picking part will follow.

no i know about light tension.... its just that the pins dont feel like they are setting.. and i have tryed a number of different ways of picking it.. its just the pins dont want to set

a) Do you have a key for this lock? If so, take it apart and see for yourself what's going on.
b) Are you sure this is not an Everest or Primus lock? That would make for an awfully tough lock to pick, especially if you didn't know what you were up against.
c) Have you tried lubing the lock?

I am sure it is a shlage.. and no i dont have the key..the lck was givin to me by a friend and he said i wont get the key until its opened..? ill try lubing it but otherwise.i guessi just have to keep trying..<

Everest and Primus are both types of Schlage lock, so it is possible that you have a Schlage, but not a "basic" Schlage.

Hope that clears it up a bit.
