Good news and a question

Ok i asked for help recently here and guess what.

I made a bump key that worked in two of the door in the house i live in and i made a snapper i tried using it without a tension wrench it didnt work lol but now i am going to get 1 and try again i made it out of a coat hander it took me hours to file.(i used the picture tutorial on this site).

I got difficult maybe stupid custion.

What happens if a simple method was discovered for opening all locks using pins and other kinds?( A method everyone could use ) would they change the system??? :?:

Just think if there is such a method dont say Impossible alot of thing were know as inposible before they were proven not impossible.

i dont think that there is ever going to be a method to open locks tha every one could use, maybe a tool that would pick the lock for you but even still that would not work 100% of the time.
but just say there was, it would cost to much for everyone to change what they have because all you could realy change it to would be to electronic locks or very expensive locks

thats what i think

It totally depends on the public outcry. Bumping is a pretty good example of a simple technique that effects a large percentages of locks out there. However, bumping existed as a lock opening technique very quietly for at least a decade or two before the covers got blown off by TOOOL. Now TV stations are doing segments about it and several lock makers are making 'bump proof' their new advertising slogan. Not 100% change, but that would really only happen with a federal law or something and that isn't going to happen without a major crime wave breaking out.

Oops also forgot to agree with lunchb0x. Fortunately there are simply too many types of locks and too many variables within them to make a single technique 100% effective. Of course that is why you don't want one 'standard' lock for a single country, once a problem occurs then everything is ruined overnight. Diversity is good for preventing wholesale destructions. Works in genetics, works in software (see Window's monopoly and the number of computer viruses as a negative example) and works in locks & security too.

Kryptonite recalled all of their locks after it became public that it could be impressioned with a bic pen. The industry was well aware that tubular locks were vulnerable to impressioning and tubular picks were made that exploited this. It seems businesses want to brush it off until they are in hot water. I bet most companies would have a similar response to Kryptonite if the vulnerability was known in the industry for some time. I believe it would be relatively easy to win a court case against the company if you can prove the industry new about the vulnerability yet continued to make and sell vulnerable locks. The lock companies don't seem to feel the pressure until there is a cheap and easy way for anyone to do it.

hehe i practised bumping on one of me houses lock and now it is hard to get the originall key in a weel.

If somthing was to be invented for opening tubular locks very very simply (better then bumping) i wouldnt be amazed there are alot of great minds out there i wouldnt have taught of buming myself

I lerned how locks work and how u open them it is very simple yet very hard becuse u say u just got to ailne some pins but how u do it is the question.

It already exist and can be purchased from any hardware store.

We call it a rotary pick :)

Never seen a pin tumbler lock in good or even poor working condition that it would not open.
