I need information about two locks (pics)

I have no idea what these two are called, they belong to two of the other barbers at my trade school. Now, for the record I have been given permission to pick their locks as they're close friends of mine.

First. I've picked this lock once, but could not manage it a second time. Took me close to an hour. I had alot of trouble getting pins in the back to set. What was causing this?

Second. I haven't bothered trying to pick this yet. It looks intimidating and the owner has said repeatedly that he'll bet me ten bucks I can't pick it in under twenty minutes. I just really want to know as much as possible about this model of master lock.

LOL, fine with me. As long as I know what the name of the locks is I can probably figure out what is wrong, but reguardless of what you think...I'm not stealing from people. Danke.

If it will ease your minds I will take a picture of them side by side on a table....I don't want to get blackballed on this forum. I took the pics at the end of the day when we were getting ready to leave.

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting. Cause everyone should HYSF as well as there Pick-fu.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU OR ANYONE ELSE RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Keep it legal.
Cheers,

in addition we will need two (2) forms of proof of identity. you can choose any two of the following:

drivers license (or whatever the heck its called in germany)
social security card (or whatever the heck its called in germany)
certificate of birth (if germany does that)
or a picture of you sitting on santa claus's lap holding a tall frosty beer with SPAMMER - Do Not View ***** on your lap, wearing nothing but a bikini. (if you can do that, then i will personally tell you how to pick those regardless of the prior requirements......)

seriously though, it would help to show us them open, with the keys next to them, with that same weird scratched door in the background. im not saying that warrants anyone telling you exactly how to pick them, but it does help your case a bit.

They're nothing special except that they are small. I've got the bottom lock, it practically opens itself. Regular picking techniques work fine on them.

Those are ordinary locks. The top one might have spools but I could have mixed it up with another lock. Even if you did satisfy all the above requirements, we can't tell you of some magical way to pick them. But please go ahead and post pictures of them together with keys as information may flow more freely then.

We don't have that here - anyone can drive at any speed on the Autobahn. I thought you knew...

Krypos wrote:social security card (or whatever the heck its called in germany)

No, that's not available either. We never had the card, and the concept itself has been discarded recently, too.

Krypos wrote:certificate of birth (if germany does that)

No way! There are no births over here, why should we do certificates??

master likes to take small locks and build a big fancy (often plastic) case on them and people love to pay a lot more than they should for them because they look serious. the bottom one is nothing special, and the top one has spools.

both nothing special. Use regular picking and they will open. but....you have to know how to pick

Not sure if the top lock has spoons or not. but it is pickable.
