Best van for a mobile locksmith in UK

Postby bikermarl » 22 Jan 2007 12:39

The lease on my van is due to run out in a few months, and I wondered if any of you guys had a view on the best van on the market for a mobile locksmith at the moment. I have been running a Citroen Dispatch for the last 3 years and it has given me very little trouble, apart from one key snapping (ironic or what!). Would like some opinions before I start doing the rounds of the dealerships.

Cheers

I use a Citreon C15 - very reliable although a bit small in the back. Am looking to upgrade to a fractionally larger van, like the transit (not the proper Transit but one of those smaller Transits).

regards

Renault Trafic 2 ltr Diesel. Big enough to take the stock and tools needed as a mobile locksmith, you can sit inside it to find the bit you want when its raining and its gutsy enough to pull the weight.

See this link for a great racking system - http://www.roofrackshop.com/product_det ... prdID=1062

Lots of good deals both new and second hand.

I've had two vans recently on short leases in the last couple of months - Fiat Scudo and a Ford Transit Connect (the mini transit).

Both were very good, although I marginally prefer the Scudo as it's bigger and pulled better. Up hills that is...not with ladies

Think I will stick with the Scudo longer term too even tho I know I'll grow out of it sooner rather than later, although the Merc Vito and the VW Transporters always catch my eye.

Where's best to lease in the UK?

With regards leasing vehicles.......are you allowed to fit out interior with panels/shelves etc, or must it be kept as you received it?

regards

I use a 05 Iveco Daily MWB and its a 2.2l have to say i can't complain about it. Plenty of space and height. As for pulling weight its not a problem. Very basic inside but its man enough for the job. Also the turning circle is absolutely brilliant.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I quite liked the look of the Scudo on a website, but haven't checked one out yet. The mercs certainly seem popular at the moment.

With regards to leasing Nick, I am going to use LMG associates, I know the guy who runs it and he's got some really good deals on vans for some guys I know in other professions.

Heres the link http://www.lmgassociates.co.uk/
