Warded picks

i am looking to make my own warded picks instead of buying them because they look really easy to make...i used illusions guide on warded padlocks and made one from a key for a masterlock but it only seems to work on the master lock. my question is what is the best material to make them from?? i saw on illusions guide that he made a wire pick..is there anything to make them more like the ones sold on lockpickshop.com??

ive also seen that people use hacksaw blades to make picks..would that work??

are you sure the lock is warded?
and yeah hacksaw metal can work

i have tried to make warded picks before, its a pain in the butt to get them right, and hacksaw blades tend to bend on you if your not careful. spend the $10 and buy a set.

just for the record, i have made and used hacksaw picks for pin tumblers, i just never have good luck with warded picks made from hacksaw blades.

If you want to make them use feeler gauge. But I would really recommend buying a set. They're cheap and its a 1 time buy. The labor you would spend to make one would probably be more than the 10 dollars to buy a set.

I can understand the pride factor, satisfaction of accomplishment as well. If you did want to make them, hacksaw blades should work well. I made a post about how I found some cheap slim jims at a flea market and used them to make picks; this material should work as well.

well i have to say, that i have made my own set outta keys that i got from family, my family looses locks constantly. and i also bought a set. i have to say that my set i got for 10 bucks works better. but thats my opinon i guess.

Get a skeleton key.They make easy "picks" because they're pretty univsersal as far as warder locks go.

He is just a little confused. The OP was refering to warded padlocks. Not the old warded door locks that use skeleton keys.
