Hello, first I would just like to say hi!

Okay, I want to learn to lockpick, just simply as a hobby... I have a few questions to ask you.

1) Is owning a lockpick set illegal? (My dad seems to think it might be so he wont buy for me).

2) I'm too young for paypal/paying online and I don't know where I can buy a lockpick set. What stores in Australia are good?

3) Where are the best beginner tutorials? (links please)

If any of my questions are noobish, like if they are in a big sticky or something, please don't get mad.

Thank you for your help.

#1 Your father is and should be the final word on the matter

#2 see #1

#3 www.lockpicking101.com READ THE FAQ's and SEARCH. You should be spending 2-3 weeks JUST READING old topics and discussion before you ask any questions.

don't ask us not to be mad if the answers to your questions are literraly JUST above your post and you didn't find it neccesary or worth YOUR time to answer your own questions.
If you can't make it work try yelling "aww d*****t!" and throwing your tools it never worked for my pops but it entertained me :)

The 2 best lockpicking guides are the MIT guide to lockpicking and there is a guide on the webpage for Locksport International that is excellent. Phone the cop shop and ask them about the legality of lockpicks, of you could ask a lockie.

Click my www button,

Click my picture signiture,

If you are in Austrailia just stick it in your profile so we know for questions like this,

To find out the law where you are take a look at This thread, from a quick look through it seems they are illegal if they want them to be or arent if they choose to ignore it,

Basically if you are wlaking down the street at 1am dressed in black carrying lockpicks then you are gogin to be done for being equipped but if you are at home with practice locks around you and keeping yourself to yourself there will never be an issue and if the police were to come round i suspect they wouldnt even look twice at them,

There are a lot of pickers on here form your part of the world,

I cant help on the supplier thing but you can always make your own, again clicking the links will help you here,

Thankyou for making a great first post, well structured, titled correctly and asked with politeness, ill forgive you for having your sig 20 pixels too high :P

make your own

make your own, and if you use dads tools, put em back clean, this method affords more ready access to all types of pick tools, may of which the manufacturers dont produce.

Pauly said to ask a lockie for their opinion and advice on pick legalities in your country but if the Aussie locksmiths are anything like the ones here in the US, they will most likely tell you that it is illegal even if it isn't just to discourage you. The law enforcement in your country might do the same thing. I would contact a lawyer to get the best and most objective answer on the matter.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
