Abus lock.

Postby Matt-the-rat » 13 Jun 2007 13:32

Just a quick question. I have recently bought a pair of keyed alike 60/40 abus padlocks to practise picking. I have done some research on the abus internet site and it says that the only resistance to picking that these locks have is a paracentric keyway. I am guess this is the way the keyway curves side to side. I cannot find any information about whether these locks have security pins in them or not. From my basic experience, It seems to me when I am picking my set of abus padlocks that they show all the "symptoms" (could not think of the word) of security pins. I have to use, very, very light tension and the plug wants to turn but stops sometimes, suggesting there is maybe a spool pin or two in there. The abus padlocks also look very attractive  ......i mean, they seem to be very well made, for example, there is very little space for shims to be used ( *SPIT* I hate shims :) ) and the plug turns very nicely when picked or having the key inserted. I keep my abus padlocks oiled with wd40's sister brand "3in1" oil. I like this over WD40 as it is not a spray and doesnt go everywhere when applyed. Is this make of oil used by anyone else, and does the abus 60/40 range padlocks have security pins? If you now any other abus locks that have security pins, please post here, as i also like a challenge.
Thanks for your time, Matt-the-rat :D

Rat, please search before posting,

You say youve looked on the abus site? well done how about this site?

Other than master i would say the abus is the second most spoken about lock on here by noobs and if not its close to,

You put oil in your locks??????

For all that is holy please give us all a break and read the site, start by reading the rules and then all the stickies and then continue to read the threads,

When i say read i mean read the full threads and not the first post,

When i question oil you will see how ill advised that is when you read up on it,

You ask that we post up info on your thread when its already been posted up elsewhere, how many times do you want me or others to keep posting the same thing over and over again? shall we stop with you or shall we post up for you then tell the next person to get off his lazy arse and search?

I very rarely do this but i have to request you stop posting on this site until youve read some of it as every post you make winds not only me up but a lot of others too if my pm box is anythign to go by, your spamming of the boards when you first came was totally unacceptable and personally i would have banned your ip there and then but your lucky our admin is a little more forgiving than i so i offer this freindly advice with good intent otherwise your gogin to be making a lot more eminies than friends in this game,
