Disable door knobs

I know how to disable the door knob with the C shaft by removing the stem but now I see handles with the square shaft and flat stem. How does one disable this so I can re install it. I need to put it back so a hole wont be open for someone to use for entry but they dont pay for re keying it.

Any thoughts on this will help.....

Are you talking about a bypass method for the Schlage lock?

dude..

the words you're using like stem and such are not standard to what we all use. can you post a photo of what you're talking about and annotate the photo with some labels? are you talking about the black square plastic piece attached to the lock cylinder which goes into the deadbolt and turns it when the proper key turns they lock? that's called a tail piece. or a cam.. not a stem..

Hey Dude....

Im talking door knob not deadbolts. You ever see a door knob taken apart? Dosent it have a shaft in the shape of a C? Dosent a stem fit in the middle of it? I dont care if I use a name your not used to can you get the picture of what Im talking about? Now on others door knobs they have a square shaft with a flat stem sticking out of it. I was told to just snap the stem off and the lock dosent work anymore but that dosent sound right. There must be a way to reomve the stem and disable the lock. Not talking deadbolts here now, just door knobs.
When I see a picture telling me what correct names are I will make a copy of it so not to repeat this sin again.

You can ease off the attitude, we are trying to help you. The part of the lock you are talking about is not meant to be taken apart. You can use a small nail to push in the retainer on the knob then pull off the knob, the cylinder is inside.

Maybe I should wait a day to replay to something that makes me mad rather than do it right then, I can calm down and maybe not see the insult and let it go.
