firecraze, try your local cheapo shops. You probably have something like PoundLand where everything costs (amazingly!) £1. You can normally find lots of cheap padlocks in these places which may or may not be any good to practise your picking on depending on just how cheap they are.
As for regular door locks etc, try your local dump to see if you can get the ones taken out of old throw away front doors. Or as your local locksmith. The only other option is to buy replacement cylinder from places like wickses, B&Q etc, which will mean you dont have to spend as much money as you would to buy a whole lock.

Oh, and just adding to that - you are probably better off buying a replacement cylinder etc at a hardware store than buying one from someone online. The cost of postage would probably make it more expensive online than offline. Then again, if you are looking for a beginner practise kit, it might be worth your time looking in Buy-Sell-Trade; I believe varjeal is putting together such a package.

On the subject of those REALLY cheap padlocks. I bought one for £1 a while ago when I first started picking thinking it would be easy to pick. In fact, all the pins were already set at the sheer line! The lock could be opened just with a tension wrench/piece of metal!

heh, I have a funny story too...
I got this padlock from Poundland. It was made by "Ross" and had a big brass coloured (I think it was tin underneath) plaque on one side to show it off. Or not - In fact this plaque was just covering up a hole which led into the inside of the padlock on the side which opens. I stuck a paper clip into it and discovered that it stopped after a little way's into the hole. So, I turn the lock upside down, and hit it hard on the back.
And what happens? - The locking bolt popped out!! This, of course, enable me to just pull the lock open.
As you can imagine, I had a pretty good laugh about that.
