Sigh... it's just two blanks connected in series with a resistor, an LED and batteries.

Perhaps, the bottom is insulated on one of them to avoid conduction through the vise. As an extra luxury, the wires are riveted, rather than soldered on, but still..

Especially silly, since the same method that is used to adjust the machine using this device, just as easily tells you when the machine is aligned when the wheel audibly strikes the key.

I guess it might be useful for the hearing impaired?
