7 pin pick

Postby CobraOne » 18 Apr 2004 19:34

I would have to also agree...

A Ace II lock has a 7 Pin Tumbler so the pro-7 lock pick will open the lock.

If so i would be thrilled if some one could give me some instructions on how to go about it, any and all help would be great !

I have learned a few tips that I will share with you.

1.) Make sure the lock is clean - If the lock has been outside there will be dust inside the lock and will need to be cleaned out for better picking.

2.) If this is your 1st time using this tool make sure you read over the info that came with the pick. Alot of times these tools have been setting on a shelf in a warehouse and need to be moved around alitte.

3.) It may take you a few trys to get the feel of the pick. So take your time and don't give up ! :)

ACE II's have really high spring constants, so you really need to crank up the tension on your pick
Why do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow?!

Here are the Instructions that I have and still use to this day. Hope this helps you too....

1.) Make sure the lock is clean and all tumblers are free. ( if a lock has been outside for a long time it will get dust inside the lock best way to clean this out is to get a " can of air " This can be found at any Computer store , It is used to blow out keys on a keyboard. )

2.) Take your pick take off the tension and Slide the fingers back and forth 2 or 3 times befor use.

3.) Do not pull fingers out from under retainer or force them up or down.

4.) With fingers flush with the end of the pick , Apply alittle tension just to hold the fingers. Remeber not to much you want the fingers to move in side the lock.

5.) Insert the pick into the lock as far as it will go. Make Sure that the pick is perpendicular to the lock when picking at all times. Do not Apply any side to side torquing pressure at this time. This action raises all the pins in the lock to there extreme height. To pick the lock, all pins must now be moved DOWN to reach their individual Shear line.

6.) Now slowly start to torquing the pick from left to right This lets the fingers raise the pins to there shear line which allows the pick to open the lock.

7.) DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE WHILE TORQUING THE LOCK

8.) IF ANY of the fingers has moved all the way back to the cut away at the end of the pick, YOU MUST START OVER This is caused by not holding the pick perpendicular , Or withdrawing the pick too far initially

*** Things to remeber ***

1.) Practice is the key to make this Tool work for you.

2.) Always try to make sure your lock is Clean and read to be picked

3.) Alot of times these tools have been setting on a shelf in a warehouse and need the fingers to be moved around alitte befor use.
