Slack?!? Hey....thats my job.

Teckniks right: Do a search, you sloppy seconds slack. :)
Practice with what you have, and figure out which one you have the most success with. I know I know, its logical and sounds crazy! But trust me: it just might work.

The half diamond seems to be the most versitlle pick I have (out of 32 and some home made) It all depends on how you pick though.

I woudl say that some variation of a hook pick would be most versatile, but thats just me.

Southord's standard rake, it's either the SP-9 or the SP-10, is the most versatile pick I have. It's also one of the ones I use the LEAST. Versatile isn't what I'm looking for in a lockpick.

A hook is probably the best pick to become proficient with. I use a few different ones depending on the keyway. A diamond hook rounded off just slightly makes a good all around pick for raking and single pin.

If I dont want to lug around my toolbox, here is the kit I normally keep with me. Image
I like a couple of rakes for any wafers I run into, other than that I can damage darn near every lock with this kit. :P

The kit is:
1.Peterson rubber handled hook
2.Petes diamond hook(rounded the diamond a little with 600 grit sandpaper)
3.Petes snake rake.
4.The double ended pick is homemade (hook good for small keyways, bogata style rake with a little extra on the end for feeling the set of pins).
5.SouthOrd twist wrench(even though its a flex wrench its still plenty heavy)
6.Double end from peterson blank
7.Small light twist wrench from wiper blade, good for small keyways.
8. All kept in a $0.99 reading glasses case

the half diamond

i do at least 5 break ins per week and the only thing i carry is my tension wrench,my screwdriver bent at a 90 3/4 from the tip and my half diamond.

of course you will run into that lock that is pinned up in such a way that using the half d sucks but then you can rake it or drill it
