All he did was yank the cylinder out of the knob so if you think along the same line you can take a good guess at what else might work like that tool. I won't say cos it kind of borders into destructive entry.

But honestly a hobbyist have no real reason to even want this tool. This thing is only used by the locksmith when the lock is so messed up that it just won't respond to picking and you've already wasted 5 to 10 mins trying to pick it.

I personally have never used it in the field yet though I do have one in my van, but I've been able to get along just fine with my Peterson short hook, flat tension wrench and plug spinner when dealing with most Kwikset lock.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

LOL :D

"I was locked out and asked my neighbor to help me. He used this long, metal thing with a wooden thing at the end and pressed it up against my lock and pulled something and I heard a loud noise and when I looked, there was a hole where my lock used to be and then the door opened!".

lol I wonder what kind of tool that was. Must have been some hot new tool on the market :)

Personally, I feel a sense of obligation to be able to pick my way through before using destructive force or bypass method. If locked out, I just feel more gratification from pulling out the pick set & afterwards saying "phew, glad I knew how to do that"
