binding pin question

when picking locks ive heard start with the binding pin, then move on to the next and so on.... and then there are alot of questions about do i start from front or back of the lock
so my question is do i start from the back or front or find the binding pin?

Ultimately you will have to find the binding pin regardless of starting at the front or back. Usually when people talk about starting at the front or the back of the lock they are referring to how they search for the binding pin.

Find the binding pin. It can be any pin and they can appear in any order.

Often, they will appear from front-back or back-front rather than randomly. That happens when the cylinder was not 100% perfectly aligned with the axis of the drill holes when the holes were drilled. If that misalignment is greater than the tolerance of the pins inside the stack cylinders then you should see either a straight front-back or back-front binding order.

At least that is what I took away from reading the MIT Lockpicking Guide. I am still new at this.
