The only stupid question is the one not asked

If you get the European picks you can use the on both kinds, either way you will need to give them a good sanding and polishing to get the best out of them :)

If you decide to buy the euro picks be careful cos they are very easy to bend out of shape.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

My understanding is that good quality picks only will only bend if way too much force is used on either the pick or the tension wrench. I've given my set some abuse over the last few months as I started learning from day one on padlocks with security pins and only ever managed to damage one offset 1/2 diamond. That was my own fault as I got frustrated with an Abus No.41

Since then I've actually sanded my European picks down to about 2/3rds of their original thickness to get into some small keyways and again had not problems with picks bending :)

Not that I know of that would both both sizes in the "main pick shapes", I'm sure you'll be fine with the European set. Light tension is important in most situations for security pins :)
